Thinking of getting one of these but as i read at Aqara website i wont get max out of it with Matter? Detection mode and range adjusting is just for Zigbee, why? Also been reading at several sites/posts i need the Aqara hub to first pair it and configure and then "transfer over" to HA, true? My intension was to be able to skip their hub and add directly to HA. I need a presene sensor on the main floor in my house. We have a big open zone with kitchen, dining and living room and motion dont work very in here for what i want to acheive. Any thougts?

I use it via zigbee and it was pretty painless setup after someone wrote a quirk. You have to reflash it to zigbee using Bluetooth and the Aqara app

There is no need for that. At least with Matter, I just added it through HA.
If I'm correct if you want to use Zigbee then you need their app to switch the firmware.
