yea i was looking at that integration thingy

just i have hardware in different locations and i want it all on 1 dashboard

what limitations will i have?

It'll be slow is all. So don't think about ESPHome or Frigate or stuff like that. Or having fun with it.

humble haven
#

could you explain in more detail? ive never really touched home assisntant

steady spoke

ESPHome and Frigate need a lot of resources which you don't have so if you want to run either of them you should look for a different device. A slow HA is not much fun so you won't have a good experience. Not sure what else to elaborate here.

#

Simply try it out, if you're unhappy you can still change things.

humble haven
#

what is ESPHome and Frigate

steady spoke
#

Something you best research on your own.

humble haven
#

im guessing these units wont really work for what i want them to do then

steady spoke
#

Since you already have it I'd simply try.

ok so i have 2 locations
location 1 has a bunch of machines and servers
location 2 which is my home has a bunch of smart plugs and my main pc and other stuff
what i want is like a dashboard on a tablet at location 2 that shows all the info and stats from both locations, also with stuff like bin collection dates and like a house icon that would detect when im home and stuff like that

#

guessing i need somthing more powerfull to do all that?

steady spoke
#

A basic HA should be able to work on these machines if the can boot UEFI.

humble haven
#

it dosent have uefi

steady spoke
#

You could install debian and run HA as docker container. Needs fewer resources too.

humble haven
#

oh ok

humble haven
#

so it wouldnt really be feasable to have this set up on like a raspi 5 8gb?

If you tell me the exact model I can tell you more. That can have a lot of reasons and meanings. A slow CPU isn't usually a reason for that.

# humble haven so it wouldnt really be feasable to have this set up on like a raspi 5 8gb?

I have HA using HA OS on a raspi 5 with 8 GB. Works without issues for my current purpose. RAM used is <2GB, CPU is most of the time near 0%.

Integrations include:

  • ZHA for > 50 Zigbee devices. Maybe I'll reach the 60 soon.
  • KNX as base of my home, another >50 devices (lights, blinds, heating, presence)
  • Reolink for security cameras
  • Waste bin custom integration and other things with notifications
  • Many more

Dashboards available in the mobile app and on a dashboard monitor in my kitchen (powered by second raspi).

The only limitstion I found until now was running my own AI tools. But, that could still be done on a second, dedicated machine.

would rpi 5/4 8gb be ok for the below?

Please don't buy a pi.

Yep.

You mention that you have two locations. Even if it does not fit for one, it might be sufficient for the other.

humble haven
#

yea was hoping that

#

just want like 2 HA nodes linked together to 1 dashboard where it shows everything

like 1 location i have 2x truenas machines and was hoping the dashboard can have like
Truenas 1 - disk health, disk usage, temp...

if that makes sense?

Syncing entities between two instances is possible (was mentioned above). Whether you can have the data from your machine depends on whether there exists a (custom) integration for it. Thats something you must check yourself as we don't know the exact things you own. TrueNAS for example is available as custom integration (install via hacs).

okkk

#

thank you

#

how about getting a dash like this?

delicate dust
#

If you create it, yes.

humble haven
#

i understand that i have to build it but from tinkering with it lightly, whatever i build looks nothing like that, so how do i do it?
