#Why does HAOS VM take up so much RAM right after install?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
In my limited experience this isn't normal. I'm running HAOS on VirtualBox with only 2GB of ram allocated and it's working great.
TBH, I don't completely understand the stats at the top, especially the 36.1/1.9 for memory
If I understand, it looks like it's using 725MB ram
I'm not unhappy with what I see. Unless I'm missing something, the little VM with 2GB allocated is running HAOS just fine.
I'm still easily amazed by how great VMs are 🙂
Top and press m a few times
You will see a ram use %
All of my openSUSE microOS Tumbleweed VMs do the same thing
Plus proxmox will save on ram usage by locking duplicate identical ram patterns and take up space once instead of multiple times. (Only helps if you have multiple VMs)
Proxmox UI will lie to you (sort of).

Once you have set up you can install the Glances app if you want more details about what is happening inside the VM.
4GB will likely be fine for most cases.
like the glances app add on on PVE helper?
I mean the app (formally called addon) available inside HAOS
oh i see
i asked because you can run this
and add it onto a VM or container
i went to the app pane and downloaded it, not sure if this is a known inssue but its not starting up
on the apps settings page you can look at the "Log" tab. I suspect in this case you have "Protection Mode" enabled for it. you have to disable it for glances to work.
