#iOS app is losing its mind when coming back from an external URL to an internal

Hi, whether this is an issue with the mobile app (which I think it is) or the 2026 core updates, I’m not sure, but here’s my environment:

Internal: iphone is on my wifi SSID, connecting to an internal IP, all good
I then go outside and drop off the wifi. A shortcut kicks in which connects me to my home VPN, same URL. Works fine.

I then come back to the house, the VPN disconnects and the mobile app never connects again. Logs say “{
"error" : "URLSessionTask failed with error: The network connection was lost."
}”

Not super helpful. The same internal URL works fine in Safari. This setup has been bulletproof for a couple of years now, which is what’s making me think the mobile app is the problem. Suggestions?

If it helps, the app starts working again when I completely restart the phone, or delete and re-add the server. It dies again as soon as the phone drops off the VPN again. It’s like the mobile app still thinks the VPN is active.

I have the same problem. Nothing works for me. Must been the app update.

NO Issues using purely external URL - updated the iOS app yesterday - have been in and out several times so connected over WiFi and VPN without issue.

iOS 26.2.1
VPN = WireGuard
URL = always external and has been for months.

I’ll try this with the new iOS app. It wasn’t working for me on the previous build.

#

Nope. Still not working. Using GlobalProtect.

#

(And it’s been GlobalProtect for a couple of years with no issue)

#

Last GP app update was 3 months ago and this issue happened well after the GP update, so I can’t blame the VPN.

Well.. after doing some updates, it appears to be working again.

…and then it stopped working once more. Ah well.
