So I just got my RM4 Pro and tried to add the integration directly but it didn't seem possible without first adding the device to the local wifi network. After using the Broadlink android app (was hoping to avoid this) I managed to get it connected, and installed the integration after 'unlocking' the device authn.

AFAICT the integration in HA seems ok, but I don't see any facility to add new devices, learn new codes, etc.. I was hoping to use HA to manage all this and uninstall my Broadlink app. Is this not possible ?

Yes I saw that... I'm sure it's possible to add 100s of lines of config and have it work but this seems like a pain without some kind of UI.

If I start using the Broadlink App to add all my devices, etc.. I am guessing entities will start getting exposed via HA without the need to add all the above config manually.

I would probably go this route instead of fiddling with config (I have a bunch of devices to add and codes to learn). Was just hoping there was some sort of HA interface that would let me do what the app does.

Ugh.. I added some devices to the app, and can control them with the app... but they are not showing up as entities in HA.

#

Do I really need use the config file to add all my devices ?

Strange.. the external sensor addon (basically a cable with a temp sensor) seems to work fine, but none of the devices I added in the app show.

Ok so starting to realize that there is no data about what devices I added on the IR blaster, these devices only exist on the App, and there is no integration with the App.

#

Basically I need to replicate that data with the config in HA

I've been following the Broadlink Manager HACS beta. Really looks promising as a UI for IR/RF codes.

#

Meanwhile, I've been using the process shown in YouTube video on Broadlink RM4 by Everything Smart Home, to capture codes.

Thanks Tim ! Can you provide a link to the video ?

Yeah honestly just seems daunting for someone who doesn't really like to play with config files to do all this. I have no doubt I'll manage though. Thanks for chiming in.

The Home Assistant Broadlink Integration has got to be one of the most complained about integrations I see when it comes to adding it to Home Assistant, so today I am going to show you just how easy it can be, thanks to some recent updates. In this video I will show you how to add the Broadlink Integration to Home Assistant for the Broadlink RM4...
