I've got my Ecobee working fine via homekit but is there an entity that tracks the status (ie idle, heating, cooling, etc)?

Here's what I see when I try to add a history graph to my dashboard

It's not an entity
It's an attribute for an entity
You need to create a template sensor for it if you want an entity to graph

No, it does not. The state is not a template
