#How do I move a set of Matter/Thread devices from Google border router to HA Yellow border router?

I've just realised that despite what I had previously thought, all of my devices connected over Thread are using my Google Streamer as a border router instead of the HA one available from my Yellow via OTBR.

Is there a simple (or even possible) way to move my devices over, or at least add new devices to my HA Thread network? My Android phone refuses to use any Thread network other than the Google one when adding new devices, even when it isn't actually available. I can't find any way to change this - it will always try and put it on the Google network rather than the HA one no matter what.

I don't want to rely on a separate Google border router when I already have one built in that is available but I just seemingly cannot actually use.

For an example of the sort of issue this is causing me: if the Google Streamer's Thread network is unavailable, then HA shows all the devices as unavailable and they simply cannot be reached at all. Similarly, if I try to add a new device, it will simply get to the stage of trying to connect it to the Google network and then just never proceed from there.

Does your HA Thread Integration show the two BRs in different networks? If so, you can join HA's OTBR to the thread network of your Google TV streamer. Then, after a cool-down period, just switch off Thread in the UI of your streamer. Or leave it running, they will just serve the same thread network.
Alternatively/Additionally: make sure HA shows the network of HA'S OTBR as "preferred network". Then the OTBR will be used during pairing instead of the streamer.

Even when I turned off the Streamer's Thread network and deleted that network from my HA Thread integration, joining a new device still tried to use the Streamer network even though it didn't actually exist

#

The OTBR network was also always the preferred network

#

If I look into my phone settings, there's a page for Thread that only acknowledges the Google one and lists it as the preferred network. The HA one doesn't appear at all even if I refresh

#

I would assume that's the issue, but I don't know why

Oh, then you're hit by a certain bug that is currently being addresed by a new OTBR version. You can update to the latest Add-on version and enable the beta to test it.
