This is more of a question than a need for troubleshooting. I access HA remotely via a personal domain with Cloudflare. I have geoblocking set to block all requests to my domain from outside of the US and Canada. This works as I can always see lots of other traffic blocked. My daughter is in France for 15 weeks and left yesterday. I was expecting to have to have to allow traffic from France for her mobile app to work. I decided to see what happened first. I was surprised to find that after she arrived in France, all mobile app entities from her iPhone are still updating. Is this because HA is initiating the data request from her device? If she tried to turn on a light from her phone, would that be blocked? Really just curious how it works
#Mobile App while Abroad when Geo Blocking

Using a Cloudflare forwarding endpoint to connect to HA through a tunnel with Geo blocking properly enabled does block app access. When traveling in Europe, I have to allow additional countries to Cloudflare to get through. When not added, the app just shows the "reconnecting" screen.
This is, of course, a direct connection, not using Home Assistant Cloud.
