Anyone who has tried the new(?) Avatto DIN Smart Fuse
Whats the initial feeling?

Zigbee: https://prime-electronics.eu/products/zigbee-avatto-zwcb16-smart-fuse

Wifi: https://prime-electronics.eu/products/smart-fuse-with-wifi-avatto-wcb16

There is both a Wifi and a Zigbee version.
I can't make up my mind which one to prefer. I have a full Unifi Network so Wifi should be doable, especially if there is no need for a controller, right?
Or can i use my Z2M with the Zigbee version?

If you want plug-and-play with no extra hub: choose the WiFi version.

#

If you already have a Zigbee controller/hub (like Z2M/UniFi Zigbee), choose the Zigbee version to leverage your mesh and potentially better reliability.

Thank you, ordered a couple of Zigbee units to evaluate

Tuya inside makes this sound like a fire, safety and security risk

#

Either way, make sure that this device even is legal to use with your local building code

I would never ever trust a device like that as safety device.

#

Just threat it as a din-rail smart relay

hmmm, i feel i might be a bit naive here. What would you be worried about and can you run them in some smart-relay mode vs what else?
i feel i might be (doh! obviously i am) on my way into totally unknown territory here

#

i just want to get a better view if our electricity consumption and see which groups/rooms are using more power than expected without putting smart power plugs everywhere.

You can use them "as is" as a smart relay and meter. But I would not trust them as a safety device. That I would leave to a trusted and approved brand of device. So if you place this after a normal breaker it's fine. At least if you trust the device at all.

Yes it's mostly about this thing both not requiring physical access to turn on / off as well as it may not providing overload switching in a reliable way.

Breakers are a quite critical part of safety gear to protect the circuit, the environment they are put in as well as the humans that may interact with the thing in any way. Usually there are fairly tight standards on how such things can be set up and more often than not <cheap smart gear> fails to fulfill those standards.
