#TADO X not working with HA

Hi all, quite new here (and to HomeAssistent, so I am hoping it is a simple fix, but I cannot get TADO X to setup.

My hardware config;

  • 4x Smart radiator knob
  • 1x wireless thermometer
  • I am a premium user

If I set it up, it correctly finds it and it also asks me to authenticate witht he 6-letter code. This also completes successfully.

When I return to HA, it first gives the error;
Failed setup; will retry 'shortSerialNo.'

Then after a few seconds it moves to;
Failed to set up: Device login flow status is PENDING. Starting re-authentication.

Whatever I do I never get them to show up, i tried reconfiguring multiple times over multiple days

Hello @robust stratus! Tado X is not supported, as is also described on the docmentation: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/tado/#unsupported-device-types
That is why you're seeing this 'bug', that it can't configure the device. The shortSerialNo is known for V3 devices and Tado X doesn't have that.

Reason being is that Tado prefers by design that Tado X is being configured via Matter and to offload their global API. Home Assistant has grown exponentially the last year and this includes the traffic we generate for the API.
We generally just respect this request made from Tado.

So short story short: Tado X can't be configured via the Tado integration, you'll have to resort to the Matter/Thread integration for that. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have a mixture of devices and also use the ZBT-2 for Matter and have a Tado X connected via Matter.

Currently it doesn't cover all the features, such as indeed the ones you mention, away preset and few more. It's still under development, so there are good hopes in future releases the Matter extension is expanded upon.

The radiator knob, will just a be a normal climate entity in Home Assistant.

Got it nevermind!

I do have another question;

Is there a possibility to connect both zigbee and thread over matter devices at the same time?

I now have the ZBT-2 set to thread/ matter to support tado X, but I want to add cheap zigbee sensors too.. the ZBT only supports 1 protocol at the same time

Personally I have the ZBT-2 for thread and a Zigbee dongle for, well, zigbee devices only ๐Ÿ˜‰
