Plugged ZBT-2 into Raspberry Pi 5 into USB next to SkyConnect currently being used to communicate using ZHA with devices, followed install documentation but it failed with this message in the system log : Failed to flash firmware
What happens now, any suggestions?

plug it into your desktop and try flashing it via THIS tool.
also ensure the zbt-1(skyconnect) and zbt-2 are at lest 25cm away from each other. when set up.

Did as you suggested and the firmware update appeared to work, plugged the ZBT-2 back in RP and went through setup process again and again it failed with the same error message.

are you using the same cable (that we know works fine) on the rpi that you used on the desktop?
is your HA install up to date?
also its possible you are hitting power limits. do you have a externally powered usb hub that you could test with?

Yes, using the same cable on the rpi which I also connect to my Macbook with an adapter cable for USB C. Don't have a USB hub.

Tried the setup again but selected thread instead of zigbee, same result, same message...

Very strange but this morning I performed an update to HAOS 17.0, pressed the reset button on the ZBT-2 and did the setup again and this time it worked with everything looking good.😃
