Hello, I am looking for a very good temperature sensor that can be easily integrated in HA. No screen needed

However, I don't have Zigbee yet.

IMHO havign a zigbee-usb dongle would make your life easier. At that point there are tons of sensors that can be easily integrated.

For temperature/humidity I use Aqara Temperature and Humidity sensor. Compact and battery powered

I using switchbot temperature/ humidity sensor, they are available with and without display, pairung via bluetooth, The one without display working with 2xAAA battery and can be used outside as well,
I have Aqara zigbee sensors too, they need 2x CR2023 battery
Both sensors are accurate and battery live is similar in length

I've just bought a Zigbee system. Which sensor would you recommend?

Aqara, Shelly,..

I Manuel, i use the sensors of SONOFF, these are very small and simple to integrate.

Any of these sensor can manage-40 c?

I imagine at that temp, batteries wouldn't work so has to be a plug in sensor... Wish I could find one that even does -20 C, I laugh every time I read an "outdoor" sensor spec sheet that says it is good to -5 C

Even Florida can get below 8 C... Can't imagine how hot your summers get ๐Ÿ™‚

had some issues with the alpstuga periodically going unavailable on the earlier OTBR + matter stack, but it's rock solid after updating the software and installing another thread router (smart plug)

Can it be used over ZigBee like some of their other devices? (Can't use anything thread based, F&%@ google)

i don't think so, no

this is zigbee-based and has good build quality

-20 C is nice, though I suspect the batteries would drain before it got to that, let alone even colder that we get here, thanks for the link though, I will save it in case I decide I really want temp sensing and don't mind bringing it indoor in January

However, this model has a temperature probe

apollo automation has a wifi temp sensor with a probe

Exactly. This is why I mentioned earlier the bit about batteries failing before temp sensor...
I would like to have a sensor in my sunroom, which stays slightly above outside temp in the dead of winter. It is weather protected but not low temp protected, and there are power outlets to plug in to for battery avoidance. Don't need a display since I would monitor via HA anyway.
Sorry, not trying to measure actual freezer, just used as example of low temp requirement.

I think I saw the Apollo one and it did not go to -40 C like the sonoff one linked above

This is fresh off the press but I wonder if the Shelly Pill + Temperature sensor could work?

It might be a while before HA supports the device, its powered by USB-C and it only connects via WiFi or Bluetooth ๐Ÿ™

But the temperature sensor says:

With a broad measuring range of -55ยฐC to +125ยฐC
And the Pill itself says:
Ambient temperature -20 to +40 ยฐC
