What do you mean by hardwired?
Ah a smart outlet, got it

smart outlets suffer from the problem of having a relay and therefore a low max load of inductive loads. I don't like them because I figure that someone somewhere will always plug an inductive load into it when your not looking no matter what you tell them (e.g. vacuum cleaner/drill).
sure having them on top of a desk or something I can definitely see the appeal but putting them all over could definitely lead to problems.
tbh I think this issue is why there is not a large selection of options unlike the standard smartplug form factor.
its easy to explain to someone, "don't plug the vacuum into a smartplug" however its a lot harder to explain "if you vacuum you have to use the 1 normal socket behind that draws in the corner." etc...
workman with a mains power drill etc... "please can you only plug it in on socket x and not the one right next to where you need it" is gunna be hard but "ill just take the smartplug out the way" is easy.
Yeah I agree with what you’re saying.
I have a Zwave smart outlet that just periodically stopped responding to Zwave commands. I just left it on and plugged a smart plug into it 🙂
