Built something for Home Assistant called Tara. It’s a local assistant that can chat, run devices, and write automations for you. Also tries to detect habits and suggest automations automatically (you approve before install).

Supports OpenAI/Claude/Gemini/Ollama. No cloud dependency unless you turn it on. No telemetry. Everything stays local.

Super interesting. That is what I've been missing from an actual smart home. It being able to learn and adapt.

Exactly. Most of what we call “smart homes” today are really just rule runners. They do what we tell them, but they don’t notice the stuff we repeat every day. Tara is trying to handle the “learn and adapt” layer, but still let HA remain the control plane.
