#I bought the Sonoff Plus V1 should I return it?

Hi! I bought this Zigbee dongle because it’s recommended everywhere, but I’ve recently learned that there might be better options, like the SMLIGHT. That made me wonder whether I should return it while i still can.

Originally, I was most interested in the ZWA-2, but I didn’t buy it because I was thinking about Matter. It’s still unclear whether the ZWA-2 will support Zigbee 4, and I’m not sure how important that will be going forward. So i wanted to save the ZWA-2 for Matter instead of "wasting it" for Zigbee given there are many Zigbee devices around.

That said, I don’t actually own any Matter devices yet. I only have two Zigbee devices, which I haven’t even unpacked, and I haven’t even turned on the PC I’d use this with.

Given all that, would you recommend keeping the dongle, or returning it or what? I'm sorry I am overwhelmed with all of this

a lot of people like the smlight but theres probably not a huge functional difference.

I assume you mean ZBT-2 not ZWA-2?
the zbt-2 will likely support zigbee 4 with a firmware update but obviously not suzi. ZB4 is not guarantee but i dont think there is any reason why it wont happen.

if you want to use zigbee devices AND matter-over-thread devices you will need 2 radios. they use the same hardware but are differerent.

personally I recommend the ZBT-2 but its totally up to you.
you could keep what you have and get a zbt-2 down the line and have 2 and then decide which to use for ZB and Thread.

I also dont know how good or bad the Sonoff is compared to the SMLight. is it worth paying almost twice as much for it as the Sonoff I already have
