AIUI binding is part of the Matter spec so assuming the device supports it then things like Matter switches can be bound to Matter lights to bypass HA altogether.
Does HA support this and if so how do you set it up?

Binding in home assistant is currently experimental, and not supported via the home assistant UI yet. It can be set up by manually selecting clusters to bind in the matter server web ui.
keep in mind that matter device support for binding is kind of inconsistent at the moment. For example, ikea's new bilresa switches don't support binding.

Thanks, it was mainly whether it was supported that I was interested in.
How would you tell if the cluster supports binding. I can only see it shows the endpoint and cluster types but I can't see anywhere that says whether the cluster is outbound or not (I am presuming binding work like Zigbee where you bind an outbound cluster from the control device to the corresponding inbound cluster on the device to be controlled?)
