Keychain remote button

Hello all,

Happy New Year, everyone! 🥳

I live in an apartment building and want to trigger my front door opener remotely. I’ve already integrated the door into Home Assistant, but now I’m looking for a way to open it without always having to pull out my smartphone.

I have Wi-Fi coverage at my front door. Does anyone know of a small, battery-powered remote button that fits on a keychain? Something like an Amazon Dash button would be perfect!

Hi, if you have a ZigBee net, there are cheap ZigBee buttons. If not but you have Bluetooth integrated into your HA server, there are several Bluetooth button options. WiFi and batteries does not work well, it's power hungry...😉

I don't know if the Zigbee signal is strong enough.

Bluetooth can be possible via Esphome Bluetooth Proxy. My Cellar isn't far away.

Do you habe any product recommendations?

I think wifi could also work, the buttons only have to connect to wifi when the button is pressed. For example the Amazon dash buttons works fine with one AAA battery for at least 12 month.

Ikea ZigBee buttons are cheap and reliable , but discontinued
