#Apollo PLT-1 Plant monitor question

I got 2 of these from the DrZzs Store this week. I have a couple of questions.

First what does the light level number actually represent. It doesn't appear to be Lux as I have not seen the number go above 100 so far, and lux is more like a number up to the 20k or something.

Second, I have the battery version. This is operating as expected. I have them set to 6 hours, ajnd they report ijn and go unavailable as I would expect. However the Plant integration in HA hates this, as when the value goes unavailable it tells me there is a problem with my plant, and there's probably not.
Does anyone have a work around or should I spin up some template sensors to keep them from going unavailable and freaking out the HA plant integration? 🪻

At least on their other settings LUX readings are off just because it's reading through the enclosure

I got another reading and that's what the light thing is. Thanks.

You bet.

as far as the sensors going unavailable yeah i dont have a good solution just workaround like you suggested above with template sensors

I just did a bit of surgery on the case, so we'll see.

i asked the nerds in esphome discord a while back and didnt really get anywhere

OK, I'll keep that in mind. Maybe I'll try to mix something up if I have the base... We'll see.

I'm going to work on a template blueprint for the plant integration problem.

Let's see. It will be a few days to get to it.

OK, I see how that would be useful. Not what I was thinking about though.

#

I'm OK with it dropping data and going back to sleep. The plant integration, however sees unavailable sensors and kicks up an error, something wrong, check your sensor. I use that alert as a conditional to pop up a message on my dashboard, so for it to be functional, I would need to put the plant integration related sensors into template sensors that hangs around. I would also try to tell those templates that in my case the sensor has a 6 hour sleep, so if you don't hear from the sensor in say 13 hours, there is a sensor problem, then kick up the alert.

Since I have 2 of these, I'd want a blueprint to handle a couple instances of this function, so I'll try to blueprint it for me, then when debugged share it in the exchange for others. Nice January project for me. We'll see how it goes.

#

Template blueprints are still a bit on the experimental side, so no promises.

I've run into some roadblocks on the blueprint. Going to pivot a bit.

Has to be tweaked to use external variables. Also I added the attributes to the wrong entity in there.

I just needed a break and worked on another problem, never got back to this.
