#RPi5 Bluetooth Hardware Failure

Ever since I migrated from an RPi4B to the 5, I've had this issue with my built-in Bluetooth module. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm about to explore updating firmware to the bluetooth module via sudo elevation, but I feel like this shouldn't be this...unique of a situation?

Anyone got the same issue?

Something has happened that bluetooth doesn't work at all, either on a usb stick or built-in, on a rpi4 for me I had bt working fine on past rpi4's, and currently a rpi5, but this 4 has a hardware problem (?) where none of my others have had before, says "Failed setup, will retry: " with some statements about bluez and kernel versions that are all OK, I'm using the same HA version on both the 5 that works and the 4 that fails. All version numbers are identical on both, and the hardware version says 43438-bt on both allso. Not even usb sticks work on the newer pi 4, I tried those in desperation...

I haven't yet tried an esp32 proxy but something seems wonky, and whatever it is seems very new. I'm using ha-container with home-assistant:stable on both systems.

#

Since tomorrow is launch day I'll try waiting till then and see what happens, I guess.

#

version numbers match on dbus, bluez, and all other required modules. bluetoothd matches an sha1sum also.

#

I use several govees and a sensor push HTP in both locations so rather count on bt working...

Well, launch didn't fix it (it was unlikely anyhow). I'm guessing probably confusion with dbus involved since bluez matched on sha1sum, or some hardware bus diffference (I don't know if pi4 has a 1.3 or 1.4 rev?)

I had a pi4 running fine for this before the house burned in a BIG fire (9.5K houses burned in one fire...) just barely getting going on rebuilding. I have a pi5 running fine now. HA versions are the same and apt got upgraded in the last day on both machines.

#

note both usb and built-in have the SSAME failure.

I'm thinking of just doing a rebuild of the setup from scratch to see if that fixes it. I can't imagine that there's an issue with the hardware. That seems super suss.

and I'm sorry about your house...sucky to say the least and most obvious thing. Sounds like the Alta Dena fires from last year near me based on the stats you said, happy you're finally able to start rebuilding.
