#How to migrate to a new phone?

I've been running the Companion App on my Google Pixel (6a). I've got a new Pixel (10). I have the Companion App on both phones, but all my automations are tied to the app on the old phone.

What's the smoothest, easiest way to migrate from the old phone to the new one?

I've done this several times for both my phone & my wife's phone, but it's never gone smoothly, particularly for presence detection, taking me a couple of weeks to figure out all the places I need to change to get everything working right. There's got to be a Better Way™

Hi there. I'm in the same boat at the moment. If I'm following what Tom said in the thread right... Do I just delete the old phone. Rename the new phone to the old phones name and the rest should be good? I also need to tie the new phone to my person entity right?

Step 3 doesn't seem to be working right? Or I messed it up some how. I renamed the device in the companion app settings but it doesn't seem to be updating in HA under the Mobile App Integration.

I got it working but it really seems like there is a better way. I had both the new and old phone in HA. I deleted the old and tried renaming the new to the old ones name with no luck. I then deleted the new one from HA and deleted the companion app. Reinstalled naming it the same as the old.

All mobile device entity_ids are composed this way: <domain>.<mobile_name>_<sensor-entity> e.g. sensor.toms_phone_geocoded_location sensor.toms_phone_battery_level device_tracker.toms_phone Change the name to be the same and the entity ids will be the same.
