Hi all. I'm trying to use my HASS Voice PVE as a persistent media player. I primarily use it's LED ring to show the current Alarmo status, and i play entry/exit delay & siren sounds via the media_player service in automations. Sometimes it will play media, other times it just won't. I fail to see a pattern here. Even if I play media directly via the Media dashboard it suffers the same issue. My PVE is version 25.12.4 (ESPHome 2025.12.2). Tried with and without beta firmware, both suffer the same intermittent issues
Wondering if anyone else has encountered this? Shame as it feels a core part of the product is just broken. No errors are raised in the HASS logs. If I play media via the Media dashboard (when it is not working), I click play and it immediately just goes back to the not-playing state. Same result when triggering media via automations.
I don't use Music Assistant. No external speaker plugged in to the Voice PVE, and it is powered by a modern USB-C phone charger which is capable of providing sufficient power. I don't actually use the TTS/assistant features on it at all. The wake word is disabled.
