Greetings, I have an HAOS installation on HA Blue. Connected is a ConBee II that is my Zigbee controller/gateway and I run ZHA in Home Assistant. I bought a ZBT-2 and want to use it only for Matter/Thread since I discovered after the purchase that it doesn't support Matter and Zigbee at the same time (could definitely have been clearer in marketing material). I might as well start testing Matter devices now that I "erroneously" bought the ZBT-2.

Is this is a supported scenario?

On the ZBT-2 page it refers to another page https://support.nabucasa.com/hc/en-us/articles/31347057208989-Switching-from-Zigbee-to-Thread-support-on-Home-Assistant-Connect-ZBT-2 for switching the ZBT-2 from Zigbee to Matter with a firmware upgrade. This implies that the ZBT-2 will first be installed as a Zigbee controller. I'm worried the existing Zigbee network will get messed up at this point. From previous experiences, the HA backup doesn't really cover the Zigbee network configuration in the controller. So does anyone have experiences with what happens with the original Zigbee network when ZBT-2 is added when there already is a controller (ConBee II or other) handling Zigbee?
This guide shows you how to use the Home Assistant Connect ZBT-2 as a dedicated Thread adapter when you have previously used it for Zigbee. The Thread adapter allows you to connect Thread-based dev...
