Morning All, going into 2026 I'm having a bit of a revamp and I'm looking at putting smart plugs with power monitoring on all my active devices and including the fridge / air fryer ect ... What is everyone's go to ... I'm wanting to keep it as low cost as possible with having so many needing to be ordered.

would go for zigbee tho, if you want to connect all devices to wifi smart plugs, it will clutter your wifi network.

🤣 yeah forgot to edit my post ... Aye I originally had Tapo but wasn't great and I found when they struggled with WiFi for so long they would just reset bizarrely

for wifi then Shelly would be the "gold standard"
for zigbee the inspelning from ikea are pretty awesome
if you want to track stuff with inductive loads you should get no relay ones (non-switchable). Athom make an option there.
theres some other options that are cheaper than shelly that run opensource firmware. ESPHome / Tasmota which are good too but are "cheaper"

got got a bunch of them recently when I set up a zigbee network and i havent had an issue with any of them as of yet.

I sort of get why people like tasmota but I tend to learn towards esphome for opensource firmware stuff. although at least part of that is the options to easily mess with the firmware config.

I would strongly discourage from putting essential appliances like fridges and freezers on a switchable power plug. If the plug fails you will spoil all your food.

"pm1" as far as i know is not a model number from shelly? there is the "1pm" which absolutely does have switching. the device you want for inline monitoring without a relay is the "Shelly EM Mini" which when wired inline can monitor up to 16A and has no switching.
