#voice is not responding issue

do you have a standard network setup or something special (e.g. VLANS)?
all one network
what type of install are you running?
pi 4
home assistant OS? or a container install on another os?
home assistant OS
under settings-system-network. there is a section for "Home Assistant URL" is the local network URL set to automatic?
yes
ok then the best next step is to plug the device into your pc and manually flash the firmware on the VPE using THIS tool as per THESE instructions.
after flashing and entering wifi creds on the tool you can try again. if the same issue occurs then we can look at monitoring the device logs through another tool to see if we can get a hint as to the problem.
oh also, ensure that your home assistant is up to date? can you check what version you are running?
Installation method Home Assistant OS
Core 2025.12.4
Supervisor 2025.12.3
Operating System 16.3
Frontend 20251203.3
cool your on latest. always worth checking the small things. clean flash of firmware is indeed probably the best next step.
i did the reinstall and repaired the device the setup screen was not shown and it still doesn't work
music can still be played
if you can play music to it then it is working. it just seems for some reason the onboarding wizard is having an issue
you can more manually set it up if you get a voice-pipeline set up in the voice assistant settings then on the devices page ensure that the pipeline is set as the assistant.
when i first did the install i keep on getting error when it was installing the required software. it is set to home assistant
in addons are whisper/piper installed?
and if yes, is the wyoming integration connecting to them?
they are both installed and whisper is not showing in wyoming
is the whisper addon actually running? can you check its log to see if any errors there?
it is running but the logs are [11:23:18] INFO: Service exited with code 256 (by signal 9)

are you running a bunch of other addons?
could you try a full hardware restart of your RPI and see if it comes up correctly then?
i have 4 addons runing and i will restart
anything major? I am thinking a ram limitation issue you see. how much ram does your rpi have?
i have 2 gb
i feel like that might be the issue
It could be. 2GB is considered the bare minimum these days. with 4GB being generally recommended.
whisper is pretty heavy in most circumstances to be fair.
i can swap with one of my other pi's i miss label this one as 4
you could try using speech to phrase instead and setting the pipeline to use that instead.
or using an external service to do STT.
i have to go but i will swap it when i get back
i got the new pi working and it still doesn't work i looked at the logs for the pe here they are

On HA: In settings-voiceassistants-YOURPIPELINE check that the pipeline assigned tot he device has everything set correctly to use whisper/pipe

what does the device log look like now when doing this?
a reboot fix it now it fully works
