I currently have a few automations setup that play mp3 files that are stored on my home assitant yellow, on different google home speakers throughout the house using the "play media" option. The problem I run into is if somone using their voice on one of the google home speakers to start playing music from spotify or youtube music. When the automations run, they cancel the currently playing music and play the short 1-3 second mp3 then stop. If you ask google to resume the music nothing happens.

Is there an easy way to just pause whatever is currently playing on a speaker (or group of speakers) and resume it after the mp3 finishes playing?
Thanks

Not really. Lots of people try, but Few if any have been successful.

Problem is usually Google is playing the Musin, andf HA shuts it down to play it's stuff, but there's no way to fire Google back up.

In my Work aread I have a speaker that I do not group up and I play the music on that one so that when someone walks up to the front door I don't have to start the music again.

To learn more, so a Forum Search. I think there is one media player that will do it, and people try other shenanigans, but I just gave up.

That will help you search the forum for more answers.

I faced this myself, and built something for it

I don't use it myself anymore, since I now use the HA Voice PE and Music Assistant, which handles resume after an interruption out of the box
