I am using Home Assistant Green, and would like to take advantage of storing event and sensor history for a longer period of time using InfluxDB and Grafana for dashboards. I would like to add external SSD storage to allow for a large amount of data capture. However, I saw some articles and videos that make it look like a major effort to move the whole HA OS to the new drive, and another video that just seemed to use a USB to SATA cable, a large format SATA SSD drive, and the 'move data disk' link in the HA storage setting. I would appreciate any clarification, guidance and/or pointers to "how to" articles or videos.
Also, Home Assistant Green only has USB 2.0 ports, is that a problem? Will data transfer rates be sufficiently fast enough?
