#Matter light bulb recommendation
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
you should give more information, type of bulb / colours / country you are in etc...
I'm in Germany and I wanna a "normal" light bulb the size idk rn but I can look for it. And it should be a RGB type. I thought it wouldn't really matter
One opinion: Aqara for light quality, IKEA for Preisleistung
I currently don't have a thread bridge. And I think my home assistant doesn't have Bluetooth rn. Can I use WiFi for it? Cause Aqara seems to use matter over thread
Then I’d personally go for the new ikea thread bulbs plus a zbt-2 (but have only had the zbt-2 for a few days now so not a hard vouch)
How they feel like?
Ikea thread bulbs are cheap, responsive and decent lighting quality, just a bit more of a yellow glow at warmest K hue, aqara go rosy / pinkish at warmest end of white spectrum
And the exposed filament globes are quite cool
But I don't have thread... Is an adapter expensive?
there are cheaper ones, but these are the better ones..
Yeah they aren't cheap... But I don't need sooooo much coverage, u think a cheaper one would work for me or is it really better with these one?
cheaper ones do work, but comparing cheap vs. better personally, i had cheap one, lot of errors and not starting everytime when haos booted made me switch to the slzb-06. This solved my errors and a plus is that you can power it by PoE, meaning you're free to place it anywhere if lan cable can be run to it. So in short, will cheap work > yes. Will more expensive run better > also yes.. 😉
PoE doesn't matter for me bc I don't have that. So you would also say one of these two?
Does that even support Matter? Isn't that just Zigbee?
yes, if you want to support home assistant / open home foundation go for the zbt-2
look at my picture above
ah didnt post wait
What happens if there is matter over Bluetooth?
Can you maybe explain these three different Zigbee modes? For me they sound kinda the same
Is that everything on just the small device you sent?! DNS and VPN?!
zigbee coordinator is normal use where device controls everything, zigbee router mode extends the signal from another device setup as coordinator, zigbee hub acts as a hub (dont..) Matter over Thread speaks for itself and for bluetooth, i dont know, never used it. might try goolgle for this one
Okay thank you!
yes, all onboard.
So the coordinator is like the router of a home network for thread devices?
sort of yes
Tf.... Can it use a VPN connection itself? So then technically u could deploy it anywhere where u have Internet and then connect to ur home assistant @ home?
you set everything up in the coordinator.
router will act as extender, just like most smartplugs and lightbulbs
Yeah because it's a mesh network. This is the thing I already know. ;)
I am using nabu cloud, so no needs for vpn. Also google or maybe other eyes are watching us type may hop in for answer..
Wdym?
I use Cloudflared so I can save the money on that side
(I wanna have it but yeah...)
Nice! So it's only a client ;)
So which one of these two would you recommend more?
my secret choice will reveal itself with the picture above, lol
running the slzb-06 for a while with zero errors
have not used the other, so cant compare directly
Then I'll take a look ;) Or when another device I wanna buy needs something it can't handle I use the other one
So back to the lamps ;)
(one shot thing: only on eBay or also Amazon?)
dont like matter yet, i still use zigbee, cheaper, no issues. For good colours, use hue or innr, for cheaper ones look at ali for matter bulbs. avoid tuya at all btw
do a search, im different country, hard to check
Currently I have a bit of a hue led stripe. But RN I can only use it with my mobile phone.
Rn I have a tuya temperature sensor bc a friend has the same but yeah I wanna use local stuff.
But don't I need the hue bridge if I wanna use them?
nope, at least for me using zigbee, i dont need the bridge because your coordinator replaces it
Ahhhhh good to know! Then I have to buy the controller first and then maybe next month or so the lamp
Thank you so much!
np, glad to help a bit. If further help is needed, shout out. If resolved check the resolved box 😉
If there is something I will let ya know
Sorry to disturb u again... But I wanna buy one now but still I can't decide which one I want bc this one has a nice UI but idk if the other one has one too to configure it.
And I wanna have matter too so not only matter-over-thread or do you think that it's enough?
matter is language spoken, thread etc. is the route that is taken. Again, no friend of matter at this point, so cant advise it 😉 Zigbee wont go away and is in my opinion preferred option. And a lot cheaper..
And I saw online on the site of the device of nabu that it can't run Zigbee and thread at the same time. Would that be a problem?
I wanna buy later the Shelly Powerstrip 4 gen 4. I know that it supports a lot of protocols but what if I need the other later? Or do ya think that would not be a problem for me?
If not then I think I will test the device of nabu ig. I would still have a Money-Back when I really really don't like it (because of whatever) ?
I use home assistant since a year now but didn't touched the water for the smart Home devices except a temp/ humidity sensor with tuya (and I regret it but now have to use it)
yeah... Tuyaaahh.... The shelly Gen4 series offer wifi, matter and zigbee. So still zigbee to use. You cant run multiple protocols with those at the same time, so you would need 1 for matter and 1 for zigbee. But again, as long as matter protocol has not matured, stick with sickbee
I still can't decide
Is it the one u already sent? Because if otherwise I can't find that. I'm from Germany and one of them is only UK.
I found them but idk

i have the -06 without letter. but your links are good too
So which one? The p7 or the p10?
(still have to pay the package costs)
only diff is the chipset p10 is faster, ram p10 has more and max number of devices that can pair is for p10 400 and for p7 300.. so if prices are roughly the same, go for p10.
There's a difference of 10€ so you would say the (all costs included) of 71,48€ are really good?
i think 10 euro more for p10 is worth it. more ram and better chipset result in faster hardware
and more futureproof
Thank you! And I even have a month to test because for that period they don't ask and accept :)
Right of withdrawal
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within one month without giving any reason.
It will come this week ig. It says 8. or 9. January. So if I need help I can ask ya?
Aaand I think I should rename the post but idk to what
if having issues we all are here to help, create a new thread if needed and you might tag this one as resolved 😉
Oh- it already was xD
@tidal stag If your are going to use the SLZB-06 via USB with HA just for thread, you are essentially not using 80% of what you just bought. You could as well just plug an SLZB-07 for a 3rd or half the price and be happy. It'll do the very same.
Either way you go you would have to flash the thread firmware upfront, but that's actually very easy.
I already bought it... So idk
it would be fr just 10 €... so it doesn't matter at all
