I'm able to turn on the ATV 4K using the HA app (iOS, ATV remote integration) and the CEC feature works (the tv turns on with the ATV). When using an automation, though, the CEC feature isn't working. I've also noticed it can take a couple tries with the HA app to get the CEC feature working. It's almost like it needs a couple cycles to get the ATV and HA synced up such that the CEC feature works.
Is this related to HA knowing what the state of the ATV is? Eg, if HA thinks the ATV is idle versus off, it won't work? Does the CEC feature require HA be the one that turns the ATV off before turning it on?
Does anyone have some guidance on what makes the CEC feature work and how to mold my automation around that? Maybe I need to have the automation turn the ATV on and off a couple times before guaranteeing CEC is working?
