#shelly and switch behavior

it depends on how you have it set up in its settings
I have most of mine set up as "Edge" so no matter the state physically using the switch will "switch" the output state
if you have it on "toggle" then using the switch will set the output state to the switches current state.
e.g. if its off. and you switch it on via HA then after switch the switch from "off to on" then nothing happens because it sets to "on" which it is already set to.
I prefer edge so i never have the "switch back and forth to change state" situation. however I understand that some people would prefer flicking a switch up/down does a specific thing.
I have the same as Michael. It's very convenient use the switch or the automation no matter the switch position
thanks. i'll probably go with edge.
i do have another scenario where one of my bathrooms has two entryways and a switch at each door. both switches control the same light and throwing either switch in either direction will turn the light on or off depending on what state the light is currently in. do i need a shelly at each switch to control the light, or do i only need one shelly?
it depends how the 2 switch circuit is wired. there are multiple ways of achieving this. you should be able to do it with a single shelly but how its connected is different.
do you know how its wired? can you draw it out?
I don't, sorry. I wouldn't know how to draw it out anyhow. I think I can experiment and figure it out though. Thanks.
without getting into the specific detail, stuff is usually wired in one of these 2 methods:
knowing where there are neutrals is also something you will want to know.
there are other ways of wiring it but they are not very common (and can be dangerous so I am not illustrating)
