#Replacing ZBT-1 with ZBT-2 - HA isn't detecting the ZBT-2 at all (DOA??)

  • Running latest HA OS version on a VM.
  • ZBT-1 works and has for awhile with no issues.
  • Unplugged ZBT-1 and plugged in ZBT-2 to the same port and HA doesn't recognize it at all. Ran CLI command to identify USB devices, nothing found.
  • Tried different cables, different ports, connected to my PC, tried both ZBT-1 and ZBT-2 plugged in at the same time.... nothing. No lights, nothing found.
  • Understanding reading the quick start book that I should be able to replace the ZB T-1 and then run a migration. Or even have both plugged in and run a migration, but ZBT-2 is not detected at all.

The only thing I can ascertain is that it's DOA. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you make sure your haos is up to date, as well as did you try to reboot it after plugging it in?

The migration path itself depends a lot on how you have setup your Zigbee connectivity in the first place. General this is a bit more involved on z2m than it were on zha

thanks for the reply @echo sedge . I did do both actually, made no difference. Did this actually several times.

So my PC detects it, trying to update the firmware that I read about but just sits at progress 0.0% and doesn't move ever

It's more likely that it is the cable. You say you tried other cables, but I would return to that as the issue and avoid the cable it came with as some are having issues like this.

I was able to update the firmware to the latest version using my macbook and that seems to have helped a bit, now the light turns on and is pulsating. I've used the same cable to perform the update but HA still isn't detecting it.

Also restarted the physical box as well but still no dice

I did do both actually,
Just to verity, he said reboot meaning reboot host, not just restart. They are different and a reboot host would be the appropriate one in this case. Sorry for the repeat if that's what you were saying there.
