yes you can do this.
in theory yes they can have issues if they are right on top off each other. generally the convention is to have antennas at least 2 wavelengths of the frequency they are using apart from each other. in this case with zigbee which is 2.4 Ghz you should place them at least 25cm apart. this will avoid most issues. so yes whilst its an issue 25cm is also not that far and is probably achievable in most cases.
