on the tapo app you may need to turn on "3rd party control" (or whatever they are calling it this week)

if its already on then switch it off, wait a few minutes and switch it back on.

tp-link will randomly decide they you don't want this anymore and switch it off for you and you have to switch it back on.

tp-link are slowly making it more difficult to use their stuff with home assistant. they may one day just switch it off entirely. (some devices already have it disabled it seems.)

advice is: don't buy any more tp-link stuff. when you get more or replace hardware then get something else more trustworthy.
you don't have to panic replace everything now but its something to be aware of moving forward.

Hi Michael . I enabled "3rd party control" and it seems to work now . What equipment would you recommend I buy in the future? Light bulbs, sockets... Thank you Lukas

if your sticking with wifi then shelly have some nice stuff thats trustworthy. or you can look at stuff running opensource firmwares like esphome or tasmota. but you could also ask in #1284966353798697001 with the recommendations tag and mention country. can see if anyone else has suggestions.
