I'm trying to figure out how to retrieve a device or entity's state from Home Assistant so that I can use it as a variable in my iOS Shortcut. I see that there are a lot of Actions for Home Assistant within the Shortcuts app but nothing looks like a "get" action other than Get Camera Image. I've seen others mention using HomeKit Bridge since there is a Get State action for the iOS Home app. It kind of feels like it should be an available Action rather than being dependent on a workaround. What am I missing?
