I'm thinking of getting a FP300 mmwave sensor by Aqara, but I believe need an Aqara hub to set up the zoning (which I don't have).
Does anyone know if it is possible to use the app when you have a Matter router from a different brand? I'm planning on getting a ZBT-2 for this.

Thank you

Hi, you can check their website

You can’t adjust range when using Matter over Thread

Thank you for clarifying @sour burrow. I was not aware Matter would be using thread of zigbee.
Not sure how to set up the device using Z2M tho

There are two modes:

  1. Zigbee with full support using an Aqara bridge
  2. Matter over Thread with limited functionality

I did not need a hub to setup a Aqara Presence Sensor FP2, mmWave Radar Wired Smart Sensor, Zone Positioning, Multi-Person & Fall Detection not fully sure what your FP300 is to be honest but I got mine in by getting a Siri device as I have no Apple mobile so it was a very hard setup for me to be honest and not sure if I could fully remember how I did it but I know you do not need a hub though I have one here spare as I never set it up into my HA at all. this link might help you! I use a ZHA https://www.derekseaman.com/2023/04/home-assistant-setting-up-the-aqara-fp2-presence-sensor.html

# sterile goblet Thanks <@944918227509723166> I see Derek also had a blog about the fp300. Appar...

They are ok to a certain degree! hard to get setup and hard to make changes after you set it up but for me needing then for medical reasons its worth getting them setup though how frustrating it can get to do so. You just have to be very patient to do it and don't expect that in a day, took me 6 months 🙂 but got it to a pritty good for me but not perfect. I think your setup should be a lot easier with no Zones as its them that are hard to keep changing if needed too. I want to as some point move my bed and if I do then the sensors woudl all need to be re setup again for the changes, Its not a easy process and hope it will get better and easier in time, which I'm sure it will. It also detects me when I'm sat on my chair to turn on certain leds and turn off if I'm not say on the chair! SO on that Id say yes its worth getting one, in my case I have 4 but the two on the stairs was easier for some reason to setup not sure what I did different but got them up a lot quicker and sensors go off when I'm in certain places though I never had any zone detections setup for them so I no clue how it managed to do it but happy it does it!
