Hello,
I am completely new to the HA community. To start with HA i d´ like to buy some hardware.
Here are my requirements ( I am from europe):

Need a ThinClient (I know that there is not one best ThinClint, but there are some devices which work well for sure). A RasPI will be to slow in longterm because I want to add several cameras, a lot of sensors, complete knx system and probably something like a influxDB for long term data storage.
Zigbee connector (ZBT 2 or Sonoff ZBDongle-P ? Or something else?)
Camera, thermostat, smoke detector, lights, movement and/or light sensors

The camera data will be stored on my home nas --> I dont want to run HA on the NAS

Adding scripts etc. is no problem 😉

for proxmox buy a 2nd hand (u)sff pc like Dell, HP, Lenovo etc... or a new Beelink S13 or so. Minimum 8, better 16gb ram. Install HAOS as VM with this script: https://community-scripts.github.io/ProxmoxVE/scripts?id=haos-vm

Another important tip...: Think about using NabuCasa Cloud. It will provide better and faster voice-support, it has encrypted online backups and external access without the needs of opening ports on router. (and supporting home assistant)

it's new, there was a slight issue with firmware updates, but that is already sorted out.

you do not need a hub nor online subscription for Reolink, and it's really good integrated in haos. (having the RLC-820A)

a lot of reading to do, keep an eye on the compatibility with haos, and remember: if a product says >works with home assistant< doublecheck home assistant docs or ask in the discord

I've done exactly what noDNS has recomemned (Beelink S13, Proxmox, HA installed via script) and I got a ZBT-1 (weeks before ZBT-2 was announced) and its all working great for me.

So far I've linked up some Hue lights and some Reolink devices and I'm finding the setup great so far

After a previous discussion around using Belink minis instead of rpis I gave it a go.. it was fine.

Until it died randomly dropped dead and it got returned to Amazon.

YMMV with minis, it feels a bit like the Mac Vs PC or Windows Vs Linux debates I think

I run HAOS in a VM on an OptiPlex 7050 mini pc. In another VM I have a decent set of docker containers, like jellyfin, mqtt (I dont't run broker in HA), a couple of small databases, and a few other. HA is MUCH faster than on RPi4.

Power draw is 10-15W with some load, less when things are idle.

TBH any mini pc with at 7gen+ intel cpu, 4 cores or more should be fine

cpu is i5-7500T, with 16G of ram

Yes. I am not that deep into knx but a local company. They should know that. But what I want to make sure is, that knx control via home assistant is only a nice to have (that i can control the lights with my smartphone and that i dont need to go to the light switch). But if my HA is down, knx should still work 🙂
