Hi there might be an issue with the new firmware for the P110 Plugs, firmware is version 1.4.0 on the few i have updated the HA can no longer connect to them and i get the following error
Failed setup, will retry: Unable to communicate with the device connect: Device 192.168.4.100 responded with 403 to handshake1, deleted one to try re add it and it wont find it if i manually enter the ip, i get the following error
Connection error: Unsupported device 192.168.4.132 of type SMART.TAPOPLUG with encrypt_scheme EncryptionScheme(is_support_https=False, encrypt_type='TPAP', http_port=80, lv=2)
looks like they may have changed something with the encryption or authentication

something to try:
in the app select the plug and enable "3rd party control" (or whatever they are calling it this week). if its already on then turn it off and give it a few mins and switch it back on.
dont buy any more tplink stuff they randomly mess with this shit all the time. and one day they will likely make it not work at all. i suggest moving away from it at earliest convenience.
thanks ill give it a go, my whole smart home is tapo so going to be costly 🙁 i have like 110 devices
OUCH!
there's no need to panic replace at the moment but you also don't want to put any more money into their products.
looks like someone else has just reported it on github
yer i am have been looking at alernatives for a bit just going to have to do it bit by bit
this gets reported on every platform all the time...
that disable and reenable looks to have got it working for the 3rd parties
yeah, they randomly decide for you that you didn't actually want that feature.
least it was an easy fix but could have be a major problem, none of my energy monitoring would have been working etc
the #1284966353798697001 section has a recommendations tag if your looking for replacement options. include your country/requirements etc...
cool ill take a look
yeah, it doesn't help that the error doesn't give any direct hints either.
am based in the UK, tapo is a fair common product because its cheaper then some alternatives, but as they say its cheap for a reason
I am also in the UK
for wifi plugs with monitoring, shelly are decent option - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Shelly-Pus-Plug-UK-Bluetooth/dp/B0BV37M88W
yer ive been looking at the shelly brand few people i know recommend them
I have a bunch of various stuff from them.
mainly at there CT clamp stuff
I have 3 things from them with ct's
2 x Shelly EM
1 x Shelly EM Pro (the din rail mounted version)
have only really being using HA for about 4 or 5 months mainly got into it because i changed to Octopus and my friend told me about there Agile stuff and the HA intergrations so the rabbit hole started from there, now ive got all sorts setup in it
have a few relays and power monitors behind switches and inline with appliances and stuff too.
cool ill take a look at them
yeah moving to octopus is probably something ill consider in the future to be fair.
i am gunna try moving most of my smart plug stuff over to zigbee when my ZBT-2 arrives mind
yer the Agile tarriff with the interagations etc is really good i know so much about my energy usage and how its got me really in to renewable energy how how wholesale energy works as thats what agile is based on
yer zigbee seems to be the way forward with alot of stuff now
thanks for your help and recommendations
