I know for the longest time that Apple home hubs were the most solid performing OBTRs and were preferred over the OBTR functionality in HA. Now, in late 2025, is that still the case? Or is the ZBT-2 in Thread mode + the built in HA OTBR now as stable as or better than say dual Apple TV 4Ks for Thread?

without knowing the antenna spec of the apple one, i would guess that the zbt-2 probably has a better antenna configuration. and is the way i would go but mileage may vary. you will probably see some more data about this from real world usage over the next few weeks as people get/use/compare the zbt-2

I'm not so worried about the ZBT-2 antenna, as I am about the state/robustness of the HA OTBR add-on. Previously it was strongly recommended to NOT use it, and rely on Apple for managing the Thread network.
I'm a touch fuzzy on the details, but the HA OTBR didn't support certain features that commercial OTBRs like ATVs so that was (as I recall) the reason to stick with Apple.
