#Possible to dedicate a PCIe device to an add-on?

no
I have a Zimaboard that I want to replace with a version 2, and I want to do GPU encoding/decoding. I am aware of the potential difficulty in powering a GPU on that.
Why not get a proper PC for this?
Ok. Good to know.
you could install proxmox on the host. and run haos in a vm and run jellyfin seperatly
although there are probably better options than using a zimaboard. as @rain island mentioned... just use a regular pc 🙂
Yeah, I have 2 full-tower Proxmox servers. I have Jellyfin running in one already. HA is running on my Zimaboard (original model).
I’m looking for ways to get my brother setup for a certain upcoming holiday, without incurring much cost…
I know fat chance, but I’m trying.
Would be nice to have an AIO device that could run HAOS, NGINX proxy manager and Jellyfin with a GPU.
if your only looking for some light transcoding then you dont need a full discrete gpu
He has an HDHomerun and wants to view live TV on the go. Definitely not LIGHT transcoding.
I would love to see him integrate that with HAOS and MA.
a mini pc running proxmox. with haos on a vm and then an LXC set up running docker/jellyfin/whatever else with access to the integrated graphics is probably enough
He does have a Windows PC, so maybe we’ll stick to that for Jellyfin, and use a Zimaboard for HAOS will probably suffice.
unless you need something special. like multiple streams or AV1 encoding or something. its surprising how good integrated is these days
