#SMLIGHT SLZB-06 fails to update OTA

Essentially the title of the post.
This happens both for SLZBOS and Zigbee firmwares. The device reports the current Zigbee version as -1, and pressing Update does absolutely nothing on Home Assistant.
On the device logs I can see messages such as

[03.01.1970 02:28:51] zb ota task | OTA task failed!```

If I try to flash it OTA, it queries and finds the updates on the server, but when I press to flash it, it errors with `REQ error: http_code -1` and the same message as above in the logs.

I appreciate this doesn't look like it's related to Home Assistant per se but support has so far been pretty useless so any help would be appreciated!

try to download the right firmware to pc, hook up SLZB with usb and flash firmware on pc.

Or flash manually via its GUI.

Both of those options work, I'm really looking to get OTA working.

i think after cable flash method is succesfull, from there OTA will be possible again.

#

dont pin me on that though..

I have flashed firmware updates plenty of times manually, unfortunately OTA remains in this state...

Given the time date stamp of 1970, i suggest checking network / dns / ntp if all set correctly. Also i would delete the slzb, reboot ha and add again.

#

give your controller a static lease in router and set controller to auto dhcp.

#

If using the controller for zigbee only, you might disable ipv6

Oh I hadn't noticed the date. Let me check what's up with that!

#

Unfortunately fixing NTP didn't help...

[17.11.2025 20:59:37] zb ota task | OTA task failed!```
#

Few things make me sadder than suggestions to disable IPv6 in 2025, but I tried it anyway because every attempt helps in a process of elimination. Didn't help either.

#

Static lease has been in place since forever.

#

I'll try the nuclear option of deleting and re-adding. Hope it doesn't mean I have to re-pair everything. 🤞

Nope. Same diff...

there has been a new firmware release for the 06, might try usb once again

#

it also can be possible that you cant do ota because of the firmware currently installed (2024) maybe you can do a incremental update, so update newer firmwares after another.

for zigbee you dont need ipv6, it only adds an extra layer of problems..

It's 2025. IPv4 has run it's course. I wish we could all just move on. IPv4 is the bane of my existence.

Cloudflare is down, dont know if that impacts firmware downloads. Bit of reading shows that downloads will be impacted 🙁

It won't make it any worse! 😆
