#How can I automate this fireplace?

I've got a gas fireplace with wall switch (low voltage) I'd like to automate. Underneath the fireplace I've got what looks to be a couple outlets (with extra neutral ports? Not really sure what the block is) along with another box for external connections. Any recommendations on how to automate this specific setup? I'm not sure what all these pieces do individually, but I could guess. The one outlet that's empty does say 'fan' but my fireplace doesn't have a blower, so not sure if I can just use that as an extra outlet to power whatever equipment I need to buy. There is also an empty batter pack, not sure what that does.

And yes, I know I need to vacuum under there 😆

Looks like this wiring diagram. Would definitely check to see if your fireplace has a manual and confirm this.

Looks like you can use the brown wires as the "switch" if that matches the manual.

Double check the fan outlet is powered all the time (whether the fireplace is on or not).

If it is then maybe go with a 12v Zigbee relay and a 12v power adapter. Use the terminal adapter with your own wires to power the relay or cut the adapter wire shorter and use those (they tend to be pretty small though)

I don't have much experience with smart relays, but this one has decent reviews.

I would highly highly recommend against doing this. If for some reason the fire doesn’t fully ignite (which happens often from personal experience) you’re setting yourself up for a potentially deadly time.

The ignition module is monitoring for proper ignition, but that's a very valid concern.
