#Thread 1.4 Lovin

I have four FP300s on order!
Mine comes in tomorrow. I'll play with that until Ikea comes out with their new stuff.
What changes does version 1.4 bring for you in terms of devices?
The ability to create a single, unified mesh network, allowing devices from different brands and ecosystems to join one cohesive network regardless of their origin, thereby eliminating the issue of fragmented, isolated mesh networks. Copy and pasted that. Eating cereal. lol
Also would like to see how enhanced network diagnostics will work
Yes but is's not on the device side, right?
For me it's mainly on TBR side
I have the ZBT-1 as my TBR and it's still 1.3. I do have an Apple HomePod Mini and an Apple TV 4K that are my backup TBRs. They are running an older version. We will just have to see if they update the Mini or the TV and update their version.
with current versions of apple/google TBR devices is it even possible to integrate them with HA? It's quite complicated to get dataset directly out of these devices from my understanding?
It’s backwards compatible. I’ve seen a few content creators use them within the Apple Home ecosystem.
I mean is there an easy way to extract dataset out of google nest for example? It is supposed to be after thread 1.3 or 1.4 right?
apple I see has THClient which has some functions to get it
Apple‘s Thread Border Routers use Thread version 1.3.0.
How can Thread Borders be a backup?
If they are active and use the same thread credentials as HA, then they will also work. There is no primary, secondary or backup thread border router.
There are 2 buttons in the HA Companion app to share you’re credentials. I also have a HA OTBR integrated into my Thread network, which uses my Apple Thread credentials, but I disabled it, because of sporadic issues after some weeks.
When I enable my HA OTBR it looks like this.
All TBRs are active and use the same credentials. 😉
