zigbee rgbw lightbulb initial color flicker

I'm using Sengled LED bulbs initially with Z2M and now with ZHA. If I simply click the light to turn it on the light shows up initially blue for a split second before transitioning to my target color. From memory the color I'm seeing is the original color I set on the bulb when I initially used it out of the box but I've been stuck with it ever since. Any clue how I can reset / change the initial color on the bulb? I have like 5 bulbs that all exhibit this behavior.

most zigbee lights support setting the color before turning the light on, but ZHA doesn't make use of this feature properly :/

I found set_startup_color_temperature for example but writing to it didn't seem to have any effect.
