Im pretty new to this, and Im struggling to connect my LOCK (nimly) to my ZHA device. It works fine, as I added IKEA light on a tenth of a second, but my lock wont show up at all.

My questions are:

  • is the Zigbee2MQTT better for locks?

  • can I add and run Zigbee2MQTT alongside ZHA on same HA Connect ZBT-1
    by Nabu Casa

  • what steps do I need to do to use Zbee2MQTT instead of ZHA if I need to? the descriptions is not good for my visual brain. Or should I purchase a new lock instead? (Europe ).

I run a newly acuired HA Green, updated to latest OS upon setup a week ago.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, you can't run ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT on the same adapter, you need to choose one or the other.

#

That said you can add another adapter to your network and have both ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT that way.

#

ZHA is more plug and play, Zigbee2MQTT supports more devices and more entities for some of the devices which support both, so unless you know everything you'll have works well with ZHA I'd recommend to go for Zigbee2MQTT.

#

I just added Ikea bulbs yesterday myself, I don't have any lock though.

#

on the HA green, start by removing all ZHA, Zigbee, ZBT-1 and restart HA. Then re-add ZBT-1 and when you configure it, choose Zigbee (not Matter), then custom/advanced (not ZHA).

#

I just want to warn you, the Zigbee2MQTT setup is a little bit tedious and not very well done. You'll need an hour or two to get it set up.

#

once it's setup though, it's very easy to add new devices.
