I am looking to buy blinds, indoor camera and door bell. All need to connect to HA (obviouly)

I live in Canada (Quebec), and looking to buy for Boxing Day/Christmas Sale.

Please recommend some brands.

For blinds, i heard "smartwings", but not sure

Any recommendations are appreciated.

*** DISCLAIMER *** Although many brands are advertising with HA logo and the text "works with Home Assistant" always double-check compatibility in HA documantations. e.g. 2-way audio from/to camera or doorbell will not be functional inside HA.

Blinds are a minefield. I have 4 Aqara motors driving 4 Roman blinds. No complaints but it’s one of those things where physical details are critical. Depends what type of blinds you have, how they will be powered etc.
Doorbell: second the reolink recommendation. But again there are details. I have a wifi model powered off the old low voltage AC wiring. It’s an awesome product. Reolink have indoor cameras. I have no experience of those, though the Reolink PTV I have in the garden (POE) is decent. Just avoid any battery powered Reolink stuff as the HA integration is nowhere near as complete. Let us know on this thread what you go for.

Hi, I would recommend unifi cameras/doorbell if you are in their ecosystem
If you ever find yourself having to upgrade or revamp your networking in the future, it might be worth a shot.
Unfortunately they are kinda pricey and sales doesnt really come around often.

For blinds you don't necessarily need smart ones. It's easier to find electric blinds which work with an RF remote, and then all you need is a smart RF bridge.

It’s an interesting point. I have a tower fan that does IR via a BroadLink. I went with this because the “smart” tower fans I found were all WiFi and to me that’s not worth going near. The only difficulty I had was these IR things are “semi smart” and remember the previous state if you touch the buttons on the unit itself. I solved this by putting it on a smart Zigbee(AC) plug. That probably doesn’t matter on blinds but it’s something to consider. It’s the classic “input source” problem anyone who has tried to automate a TV via an IR blaster will have seen.
