Any recommendations for two small physical buttons that can trigger some HA actions? Can be 433 MHz, wi-fi or bluetooth. Not the huge wall switches, something smaller to attach to the desk.

I use ikea shortcut (Tradfri) buttons. These are Zigbee and work great, with single press and double press.

agree with aslak3 here, if making choices for reliable equipment, use the zigbee standard. If you are using the right blueprint for the buttons, you would also have a long press action for the buttons too. So if near an IKEA look for tradfri (2button) or styrbar (4button) remotes. Of course you need a zigbee controller 😉

#

Zigbee is used 100% local, and even if internet or wifi goes down, you could still use the zigbee stuff.

#

If not having a zigbee coordinator, you might take a look at the SMLIGHT SLZB-06. Works great and can be powered over PoE, so no need for it to be near the HA machine, creating more options for a good network coverage.

i been happy with the little round xiaomi mi smart button for the bathroom to start/stop music, radio whatever, it triggers 1,2,3,4,many (5+)+hold and due to the design has no problem being operated with wet hands 🙂

but if you DIY you can select exactly the button you like (i like arcade buttons) and make your own with a small esp devices, easiest first DIY project.. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Adding to what noDNS has said, the Ikea remotes uses rechargeable Ikea AAA batteries, that is important to me at least

might do the search for starter-pack. Dutch IKEA only selling them as kit with bulb, had to do that too

I have a couple of MOES 4 button panels too. They do triple click though that seems daft. I think you’re supposed to mount them in the wall but I just have them on the coffee table etc. Great for closing the curtains or whatever.

In fact, the pack is much cheaper

blueprint? 🤔
in this video it seems like the device itself has pressed and continuously pressed triggers https://youtu.be/qWOBdTFfsM8?si=4Fne5Zp9hwCFHdaF&t=223

How to integrate the IKEA STYRBAR remote control in Home Assistant without any third party hub. A zigbee usb dongle is required (e.g. Conbee II).

hm, though for some reason 2 of the 4 buttons only have "continuously"
and 2 others do not have "released"

Left and right will generate Up when held. It’s a bit annoying but you quickly get over it.
FWIW: the automation on my lounge lights is described thus. Up and down dim the ceiling lights in the way you’d expect. Left and right control the side lights + and - 25% on each tap. It’s not perfect but certainly good enough.

Those will fire when left or right is held and released. As you can imagine it’s not optimal. But you quickly learn not to hold left or right down.

#

Just playing with one now and it’s Turn on you see, as well as some other events I don’t understand.

#

I get those three holding right. The problem is filtering out that Turn on even, even if the others make sense, is going to be difficult.

#

And controlling the light only with dim up and dim down is going to be extremely annoying.

#

Actually you can have turn off as a quick press. But turn on with a quick press is a must in my book.

I have 5 of these things and have pondered solutions for the last couple of years. Have given up. 🙂 They are still very nice. I have one on its first set of batteries after nearly 3 years!
