I was previously using TP link and Kasa. Now that they are requiring a service fee I would like to avoid that. currently I am running HomeKit and Home Assistant. I have a pi5 with a Zigbee controller. I want to try and keep as much of my build with as few companies as possible. I’m using Nanoleaf for lighting. ubiquiti for network, security cameras, and (eventually my nas ). it would be cool if I can do power strips, plugs, door sensors, motion sensors, but I’m fine with just doing the smart power strips and plugs with power monitoring through the same company if I can and I guess a fourth company would not kill me. dont know if you are near an IKEA store, their zigbee products are good and local,
Just dont go Tuya,Tapo etc. they are slowly shutting down the firmware and force you to subscribe..
if having future choices to make, go for zigbee
when talking about power stuff then its always worth mentioning what country you are in as recommendations can change based on this.
Totally agree with the Ikea ZigBee stuff, specially before the change to Matter in the incoming months
Thank you I overlooked it.
