#notify.send_message with Automations Instead of notify.alexa_media

Hello! I think I missed something along the way. For all of my automations, I use notify.alexa_media but once I upgrade Alexa Meda Player to 5.7.9 all my automations and scripts stop working. It looks like Alexa Devices is what we now have to use??

From what I have read online, we now need to use notify.send_message for notifications to our devices. Do I have this all wrong? Do I have to re-write all my automations and scripts based on Alexa Devices "send_message" format?

What I fail to understand is how these two integrations are connected. Alexa Devices is part of core now, whereas AMP is a 3rd party integration. So one shouldn't really have anything to do with the other technically speaking.

It will be a lot of work to have to re-write everything so I am hoping someone can help explain to me what I may have missed or if there's an easy way to change everything over to the new way of writing notifications for Alexa devices.

AMP and Alexa Devices serve the same purpose, but otherwise aren't related

#

I don't see anything obvious in the recent AMP releases that they've moved to the new notify.send_message service, but that's the direction that HA is heading. There's nothing specifically in 5.7.9 that seems related to it

#

The docs don't indicate that anything has changed...

Thanks for confirming what I thought all along! So I can upgrade to 5.7.9 and my automations will stop working saying something to the effect of unknown action or something like that. I can try and figure out how to get the logs if that would help?

that's not at all what I'm saying

#

I'm saying that there's no evidence that anything at all has changed in Alexa Media Player with respect to notifications

#

if you want to move to the core Alexa Devices integration, you need to follow the rules for it

Okay, sorry my misunderstanding. So how can I figure out what's wrong? I downgraded to 5.7.3 and they work fine.

review the logs?

I don't really know much about reading the logs. Let me revisit it now once I upgrade...

going forward, you will be better served by moving to the core integration and making whatever changes are required for your scripts/automations

I agree... since Alexa Devices is now part of Core... I'm just not looking forward to re-write all my scripts/automations

I've opened an issue as it first started with 5.7.4 in AMP. Thank you for your assistance!

you do have a lot of issues in that log
