Hi! So i ve been having some trouble for the last coupe of days. the entity person.name moves around the map and triggers automations that would trigger when i leave home while i m still at home. this happens sometimes during the night and it happened 2 times in the span of 30 minutes just now. As sensors i have background location enabled, location zone, single accurate location and high accuracy mode set to true. Any ideea what causes this?

having the same issue sometimes too, hopping just in and out of zones.. You maybe could add a time condition to your automations, e.g. if person is out of zone for XX minutes. Your settings look good to me though.

#

just look at the timestamps when hopping in and out of zone and adapt that time as delay.

#

Or set an extra condition that checks if you're phone is connected to wifi. So if person out of zone but still wifi connected, don't trigger automation.

#

Also make sure battery saver is not active on your phone

yeah i was thinking about the connection to wifi as a failsafe. i think i disabled all battery optimisation for home assistant app, and normal battery saver should never be on

#

Probably the wifi is most accurate as i d have to be in front of my door to be at home. I plan to buy a smartlock when i find a suitable one and it s stressing me out a bit if the phone jumps in locations randomly. i wouldn t want to unlock my door without meaning to :))

If looking for locks, dont go for wifi, but zigbee locks though.. no wifi no lock 😉

any reason why no wifi locks? i was specifically looking for them as i feel sometimes the zigbee networks just doesn t work

well if zigbee is set up the right way, it should provide a stable network without having the need of a working wifi network. Ofcourse it starts with a decent coordinator like smlight slzb-06, and placing e.g. lightbulbs or smart plugs at strategic places inbetween, hence they mostly can act as a zigbee repeater.

I think i have a sonoff dongle for zigbee. I have a lightbulb as well. Maybe the network is ok but sometimes some sensors don t activate. Maybe it s on the sensor side

trying to think..

#

What hardware do you run for haos, and how did you connect your dongle?

#

make use of USB 2.0 ports only and use an USB extension cable, especially if running from Raspberry Pi, hence the interference..

#

in Z2M you have a network map of your zigbee devices, you can check the signal strength from each of them, checking if an extender is usefull and where to put it.

Yea i use z2m and i see that map but i feel like it s never actially accurate. At least some of the stuff. I run homeassistant in a docker container on a vm on proxmox i think the usb is 2.0 vut i can double check and i am using the extension cable to make it more central. It would be kinda close to the door so maybe it wouldn t be too bad

yeah it's more about showing signal strength and what is connected to what.

#

Back to your original issue about location hopping. If high accuracy is not perse needed, you could disable it. That will also help a bit against hopping

trim lodge
#

Oh i actually tought it makes it more lilely to not hop :))

#

Yea i can disable it. It s not needed. It drains battery for free apparently if it actually messes with my automations

#

I ll give it a try thanks
