I just installed Home Assistant on my laptop and set up a WiFi connection (since there's no Ethernet port). It seems to have worked. Now I'm trying to add a smart switch that's compatible with Tuya Home. As far as I understand, I need to install Tuya Local for that. So... on the Tuya Local github page, they say you need to install HACS. I'm trying to install it, but it looks like I'm not the first one who got stuck at this stage.

Oh, by the way, I tried asking on the HACS Discord, but they sent me back here.

" Installation is easiest via the Home Assistant Community Store (HACS)" -

here a link to https://hacs.xyz/

Manage (Install, track, upgrade) and discover custom elements for Home Assistant directly from the UI.

Have you tried installing HACS from the HA addon page? There is a link> Get HACS

trying ... going to update supervisor

#

it looks like that the problem was in outdated supervisor version

#

get hacs is also started working

narrow dock
#

good, from there you can install localtuya

need to add response on https://community.home-assistant.io/t/hacs-installation-error/924045/1 how to solve the issue

suggest doing a full reboot instead of the automatic restart after update. Try again after

#

fixed by updating supervisor of newly installed home assistant

though i have 2 recommendations here.. 1> dont use wifi for home assistant, because a server (as HA is) do not like wifi at all. If having a chance, connect wired. 2> Future hardware, i would not advice Tuya at all to be honest.

I have no-name branded wifi switch - and wanna to add it to home assistant

#

I couldn't find instructions on a direct way to add it... only through Tuya local integration - but I'm not sure about that.

#

This device

#

This is cheap - tuya / google / alexa compatible device - but there are no instruction how to add it to home assistant directly - only find suggestions to add it using tuya-local

yeah, it's cheap, but a pain in tha *ss to add it into home assistant. You can use the localtuya way, but this also creates the need to setup a tuya developer account, creating a project etc. etc. ... If you add the photo you shared into google gemini and ask it how to connect it to home assistant, it will give some advice how all that should be set-up.

#

also adding device tuya tuya phone app required for setting up things.

#

hmm thanks

#

if using standard tuya integration, things will be a bit easier, but you'd likely share data with china unless you block internet traffic on tuya device

tribal blaze
#

yeah that requires to use tuya integration ...

narrow dock
#

yes, sadly enough

#

as said, no fan of tuya at all. If you want to have a reliable option, go for zigbee instead of wifi and avoid Tuyaaaah

tribal blaze
#

buy I already used tuya app - it seems I need only code from my app

narrow dock
#

then try to pair device with app

tribal blaze
#

WOW its working

#

thanks A LOT!

#

soo I don't need HACS and tuya local for now

#

if it's working, it's working 😉

Hello, interested in localtuya integration. Rospogrigio fork works nicely (using lights, temp Rh sensor, LED strips..). Experiencing issues on some devices with 2025.10.4 core on Raspberry:lights online status is ok but not able to turn it on. Tuya app is able to control devices. Tried to remove and add device with no luck.
Any advice or some affordable new fork of localtuya?

try power off/on enddevices that are not responding and reboot Home Assistant, not restart 😉
