#How to migrate historical energy data to a new HA instance?

Hey everyone! 👋
I’ve managed to break my Home Assistant setup 😅 and decided to start fresh with a new VM on Proxmox.
The new instance is up and running, but I’d really like to transfer all my historical energy data (from the last few years) to this new setup.

What’s the best way to do that?
For context: I have long-term statistics and energy dashboards I’d like to keep.

Any tips or guidance would be greatly appreciated! âš¡

the question would be: do you have accurate backups?

Yes, I can create a backup — but I’d like to start with a clean setup and not restore everything from the old instance.
Ideally, I only want to import the historical energy data (long-term statistics and energy dashboard history), without bringing back the rest of the configuration.

Is that possible?

With standard tools, no.

If you like tinkering with the database yourself, yes, can be done. Basically the same as restoring a broken db. Just make sure you have all the entities you want to restore back in HA with exactly the same name. Then you can migrate the data. Did it write up but still have to translate it to English but you can use Google translate:
